01 / ABOUT

Michael J. Edmond

Michael is a published author and experienced fiction writer whose perspective is shaped by graduate-level writing study, teaching, coaching, and the creative and practical frustrations of finishing and publishing books.

His approach comes from both writing and coaching: careful attention to craft, respect for the person doing the work, and a willingness to say what is true without diminishing the writer.

A good coach cannot do the work for you. A coach can teach, encourage, challenge, identify problems, and help you grow. You still have to write the words.

He is the founder of RFP Publishing.

02 / AN INDEPENDENT PRACTICE

Founded on the work itself

RFP Publishing is an independent author-development and publishing-services business. It was founded on firsthand experience: writing books, preparing them for publication, and independently publishing them. That experience shapes the guidance offered here, including the parts that are uncomfortable to hear.

It is not a traditional publisher, an agency, or a book marketing company. RFP does not acquire rights to client manuscripts, does not take a share of client royalties, and does not promise sales. What it offers is work: careful reading, honest feedback, and practical help with the editorial and production decisions that stand between a finished manuscript and a published book.

Authors arrive at different points. Some are writing. Some are revising what they have finished. Some have a complete manuscript and need it prepared for readers. The work changes with each of those stages, and it is agreed in writing before it begins.

03 / WHERE AUTHORS ARRIVE

Writing, revision, and book production

Each pathway below is built for one of those stages. Nothing is required beyond the help you actually need, and every quote is itemized before work begins.

01

Writing

There is an idea, a few chapters, or a partial draft, and the goal is to get words on the page and keep going.

In Progress →

02

Revision

There is a completed draft and a need to know what is working, what is not, and what to address first.

Development →

03

Book production

The manuscript is finished and needs to be prepared, produced, and published under the author’s own accounts.

04 / HOW THE WORK IS RUN

Plain terms, stated up front

  • Defined deliverablesEach service states what is delivered and what is not included, so the scope is clear rather than assumed.
  • Practical publishing assistanceHelp with preparation, files, metadata, and the author’s own KDP and IngramSpark accounts, so the book can be published and managed by the author.
  • No royalty participationRFP receives no share of client royalties and holds no rights in client manuscripts.
  • No guaranteed salesRFP does not sell marketing packages and does not promise sales, rankings, or financial return.

07 / FIRST CONVERSATION

Start With a Conversation

Not every writer needs the same kind of help. Some need accountability. Some need craft development. Some need an honest manuscript assessment. Others simply need help deciding what comes next. The first conversation is designed to understand your project, goals, experience, and where you feel stuck.
